Labs
Nightly builds of Celeris carry more than they ship. Features that are built but not finished are compiled in and switched off, and Settings → Labs is where you switch them on, one at a time.
Labs features have not completed thorough testing. They can be unsafe: they may lose work, behave in ways you did not expect, or do something you did not intend. Turning them on is not recommended unless you want to try work that is still being built.
If that is you, we would like to hear how it goes. Tell us through the feedback option in the app.
How the page works
Labs only exists on the nightly channel. On stable and candidate builds the page is not there, because the features behind it are not in the build at all. That is the point: a stable install cannot be talked into running an unfinished feature, whatever its settings say.
Each row turns on one area, with everything that area needs. Switching one on makes its settings pages, buttons and tools appear; switching it off makes them disappear again.
Turning something off never deletes anything. Your data, your settings and whatever the feature had built up stay exactly where they were. Switch a feature back on and it picks up where it was. So it is safe to try something, decide it is not ready, and put it away.
Labs choices are per device, and per person. They are not synced between your computers, and a project or a repository you open cannot turn one on for you.
What is in there
Where one has its own page, its name links to it.
- Lex, the personal agent. Scans your work in the background and hands you a brief of what deserves attention. Proposes; never acts.
- Proactive work. Work Celeris starts on its own in the background.
- Live. A conversation with Celeris that needs no screen: it keeps listening until you end it, answers aloud, and asks aloud before it does anything but look.
- Computer use. Driving a browser, a phone or a window by looking at it and clicking.
- Delegation. Handing long jobs to a coding agent installed on your machine.
- Catalogs. Adding catalog sources of your own and installing tools from them.
- Activity history. A fuller record of what Celeris did and when.
- Suggestions. Next steps Celeris offers before you ask for them, on the Home screen and in the floating panel.
- Developer extras. Custom model endpoints and debugging views. These are for people building against Celeris, and are the least finished things here.
What Labs does not change
A Labs feature is unfinished, not unsupervised. Everything switched on here still runs under the same approval rules as the rest of Celeris: reads run without asking, anything that writes or sends stops and asks, and anything that cannot be undone or leaves your machine asks every time. See Approvals & safety.
Nothing on this page can be turned on remotely, by a data update, or by a project you open. Only you, on this device, in these settings.
