Live

Live is a Labs feature. It is built into nightly builds and switched off until you turn it on in Settings → Labs. It also needs voice set up, so a speech provider key in Settings → Voice comes first.

Voice makes typing faster: you say a sentence, it runs, and the answer is read back while the screen and its transcript stay there as the safety net. Live takes the screen out of the loop. Press Start Live and Celeris keeps listening until you press End Live, so you can ask, be told, and say yes or no from across the room or with the phone in your pocket.

Starting and ending

The header of the chat window and the tray menu both carry Start Live. The first time, Celeris explains what you are agreeing to, which is that it listens continuously and runs lookups without asking, and waits for you to choose Start Live before it does either.

While Live is on, a red indicator sits in the window header and a short chime marks the start and the end, so a hot microphone is not a surprise. After thirty minutes of total silence Celeris says it is about to stop, then ends the conversation. The number of minutes is End Live after silence in Settings → Voice.

Say "pause" and nothing you say starts a task or settles an approval until you say "resume". Celeris says aloud that it has paused and that it is back.

Showing Celeris what you see

Live listens; it does not look unless you ask it to. Turn on Send a screenshot with each request in Settings → Voice and every time you finish a sentence Celeris takes a picture of your active window, or of the whole screen, and sends it with your words. "What does this error mean?" then needs no pointing. The same control sits in the Live bar above the message box, so you can switch it on for a question and off again without leaving the conversation.

A window capture sends that window and nothing else. If Celeris cannot find the window in front, it sends your words without a picture rather than a wider one. The picture goes where your words go and appears beside them in the conversation record, and nothing is captured while Live is paused or off.

The same control has a Camera setting. Choose it and Celeris keeps your camera on for the rest of the conversation, shows you a small preview in the Live bar, and sends the frame it sees as you finish each sentence, so you can hold something up and ask about it. The camera stops the moment you switch the control off or end Live. The first time, your computer asks whether Celeris may use the camera; if you say no, Celeris sends your words without a picture.

On an Android phone running its own Live conversation, the camera button in the Live bar does the same: a viewfinder appears above the bar (the back camera, with a flip to the front), and the picture it shows as you finish each sentence goes with your words, so you can point the phone at something and ask about it. The camera is on only while the viewfinder is on screen; put the app away and your words go without a picture.

What runs without asking

Reads run. Live runs a lookup that only reads, such as what is on your calendar, whether a file has changed, or what a pull request says, without stopping to ask, because a hands-free question that had to be approved on a screen would not be hands-free. That standing permission is the run read-only lookups without asking switch in Settings → Voice. Turn it off and every lookup asks, which makes Live slow for questions, and the setting says so.

Everything else stops. When a task wants to change, send or delete something, Celeris says what it wants to do and asks you to approve, deny or report. "Yes", "approve" and "go ahead" approve. "No", "deny" and "don't" deny. If Celeris cannot tell what you said it asks once more, and if you say nothing for a minute it does not do the thing and tells you so. Anything that cannot be undone is refused aloud with the reason; your voice cannot approve it, and Live never grants a standing "always". Those are screen decisions.

What you hear back

Every answer comes from what actually happened. A finished task is summarised from its record, not from what the task meant to do, so a step that failed is audible straight away.

A job you started by voice and left running, such as a long delegation, speaks up when it finishes. Celeris announces only work you began in this conversation. If you are talking when an announcement is due, it waits, and an announcement that has not started when you speak again is dropped rather than read over you.

The microphone closes while Celeris is speaking, so it never transcribes itself. Say "stop" to cut a reply short.

The record

A Live conversation is an ordinary session. It appears in your history as one row, with every task it ran, every tool call, and every approval you gave, so someone coming back to the screen finds the whole paper trail. Live adds no way to run anything that the screen could not, and everything it does is checked by the same approval rules.

On the phone

The Android companion carries the same Start Live control. The conversation runs on your paired computer, which has your files, sign-ins and tools, and the phone carries the audio. Without a paired computer the button is there but Live cannot start.

Turning it off

End Live ends the conversation. Turning Live off in Settings → Labs removes the controls and leaves your settings, history and approvals where they were.

Recording a conversation

Turn on Record live interactions in Settings → Voice on the device where you start Live. When you start a conversation, choose the screen or window to record. On Android, approve the screen capture prompt for each recording.

A recording notice appears when capture starts. The red recording indicator stays visible, and Stop recording ends the recording while Live continues. Turn off the setting to stop recording future conversations automatically.

After the recording saves, select Replay in the notification. You can also open Browse recordings in Settings. The viewer shows the recorded screens side by side with one playback control and timeline. Select the audio tracks you want to hear. An incomplete recording shows where capture was unavailable.

Select Export side by side to create one video for a demonstration or team training. Browser export plays through the recording, so keep the page open until the download is ready. Preview the result before sharing it.

Recordings stay on the devices that captured them. Paired capture uses the Live connection to exchange the recorded media. If the other device cannot record or the transfer fails, the local recording remains available. Recordings do not include internal logs or diagnostic traces.
